Choose the target explicitly
The stock tool accepts a user-chosen total mass target and the known usable matching mass already held. It does not recommend a monthly amount or infer consumption from the number of cats. A blank target remains unresolved. The tool answers a supported purchasing question only after the buyer supplies the quantity assumption.
Work through an example
For a chosen 60 lb target with 10 lb of usable matching litter held, 50 lb more is wanted. A 40 lb selected bag requires two whole bags, adding 80 lb and producing 90 lb total, 30 lb above the chosen target. A 15 lb bag requires four bags for that additional mass. Those are different purchase-format outcomes, not a claim that the materials provide equal service.
Round the orderable unit
A result of 1.25 forty-pound bags is not treated as a purchasable selected offer. The tool uses a whole-bag ceiling. If a seller offers another bag size, it needs its own exact current price and source record. We do not assume a smaller package is sold at the same per-pound cost or combine another formula’s mass with the selected price.
Keep held stock honest
The user must establish the actual usable matching remaining mass. The tool does not estimate pounds from an opened bag’s height, fullness or a photograph. It also does not inspect storage condition or product identity. Litter of another material or an unverified use case is not silently counted as a substitute merely because the pounds can be added.
Use the zero boundary
If held mass already meets or exceeds the chosen target, the purchase count is zero and the surplus is visible. That does not recommend operating without a reserve or decide that existing stock is suitable. Negative, blank, non-finite or out-of-range inputs do not become a quiet zero. Switching the selected product clears the old assumptions.
Keep the outcome narrow
A whole-bag quantity does not reserve stock, confirm a delivery date or estimate days of use. It does not multiply an odor-control claim into a replacement schedule. Verify the actual selected variant and seller conditions before purchase. The tool is local arithmetic and sends no cat information, household details or order to a seller.
The same target can buy different mass
For a 50 lb additional requirement, two 40 lb bags add 80 lb, while four 15 lb bags add 60 lb. Both satisfy the entered mass target but leave different surplus. The tool shows that difference without claiming either material supplies the same number of uses. A user may prefer a smaller package format for practical reasons, but the site does not invent storage costs or lifting assessments. It reports the actual whole-bag arithmetic and leaves those unmeasured circumstances explicit.
