Read the net-mass field

The selected products are sold as 40 lb, 15 lb and 18.8 lb bags. These are mass quantities. They are not fluid ounces, gallons or liters of usable litter volume. A bag’s outside dimensions and a photograph of granules do not provide a verified bulk density. The tools therefore keep the supported unit as pounds of net litter, not estimated box fills.

Do not equate equal mass with equal volume

Clay, corn and wood can have different bulk properties. A 40 lb bag being heavier than an 18.8 lb bag does not establish that it fills more litter boxes or provides more usable service. No density measurement is available from this site. A price-per-pound comparison is a transparent purchase denominator, not an overall effectiveness or cost-per-day ranking.

Keep a rounded metric label literal

The current ökocat 18.8 lb front image also shows 8.5 kg. That printed rounded equivalent is a package statement. A Shopify shipping-weight field is separate and must not replace the declared net mass. The selected maker feed’s weight field is not used to invent a different bag size. The count and unit-cost tools use the actual 18.8 lb selected title and panel.

Do not derive depth from the bag

Manufacturer instructions can name a litter depth in inches, but converting pounds into the mass needed for a specific box requires an established material density and geometry. This reference does not calculate that conversion. It does not ask for box dimensions and infer a bag requirement from a guessed density. Source depth instructions remain separate from user-chosen stock targets.

Use one denominator consistently

For the selected 19.15 USD 15 lb corn offer, the merchandise quotient is 19.15/15 USD per pound. It is not a cost per liter, per scoop or per day. Shipping, tax and unverified discounts are excluded from that base unless actual quoted charges are entered elsewhere. A displayed rounded value should not be multiplied backward to reconstruct an exact bag price.

Before comparing another listing

Check whether the listing gives one bag, a bundle, total bundle mass or a package-volume claim. Retain the field label and selected option. If only a volume is known, do not force it into the mass comparison without actual product-specific evidence. The mass tool returns an unsupported-unit message rather than treating gallons and pounds as interchangeable.

Do not use shipping data as net mass

The maker-store wood feed contains a shipping-weight field that differs from the 18.8 lb declared product. The front panel and selected title establish the net litter quantity used here. Shipping data can include another commercial convention and is not silently substituted into the unit-cost denominator. Likewise, a carton’s shipping dimensions cannot determine granule volume. Retain the literal field labels when saving evidence, so an apparently more precise data feed does not overwrite the actual package statement without clarification.
